To install a ceramic disc cartridge, you must:
- Remove the old cartridge.
- Install the new cartridge.
- Test for leaks.
- Re-assemble the trim kit
Please Note: Before doing any work on your faucet, please shut off the water supply for the faucet.
Once the water is turned off, you are ready to begin.
Step 1 – Remove the old cartridge
a. Remove the handle and the trim plate.
b. Using a pair of adjustable pliers, unscrew the cartridge counter-clockwise until the cartridge is completely removed from the faucet body.
Step 2 – Install the new cartridge
a. Insert the new cartridge into the faucet body and screw it into the faucet body by turning clockwise. To avoid over tightening the cartridge, hand tighten the lock nut on the cartridge assembly, and then use the adjustable pliers to apply a quarter turn clockwise. 10-14 lbs of torque is required to properly fasten the cartridge.
Step 3 – Test for leaks
a. Once all of the parts are re-installed, turn on the water supply for the faucet and let the water run for approximately 10 minutes. If you notice that water is leaking from the ceramic disc cartridge, tighten the lock nut on the cartridge and test again.
Step 4 - Re-assemble the trim kit
a. Re-assemble the trim plate and handle assembly.
