NOTE: The below information applies to older pressure balance shower valves with stops. For Gerber Treysta pressure balance shower valve with stops, please see the article "How to remove and replace the servicing stops."
- Turn off the main water supply to the shower valve.
- Cover the drain with a rag or cloth to prevent any parts from falling down into the tub drain.
- Unscrew the shower check valve (counter-clockwise) by applying an adjustable wrench on any 2 flat sides as shown below:
- If the new check valve comes in pieces like the image below, place the spring inside the check valve itself, then push the stem with the black rubber washer in it. Be careful, spring can fall down.
- Insert the assembled check valve into the brass valve body and turn it clockwise by applying an adjustable wrench on the flat sides till it sung.
- You can adjust the pressure more or less by applying a flat head screw driver on the grove: Counter clockwise to have maximum pressure or Clockwise to shut off the water from the valve.
