How do you adjust Shower Temp Limit Device for Normal or Back to back Installation?

For Single handle Pressure Balancing Shower:

  1. Make sure that water is turned off before you start (either by closing the check valves on the brass shower valve itself clockwise or by closing the main hot and cold supply lines).

  2. Remove bonnet nut or base nut after you remove handle by turning it counter clockwise by hand.
If there is no bonnet nut (in old models), then the temp limit device will be exposed, there is no need to remove any other part to adjust the temp limit device.

  3. Make sure the stem is positioned where the stopper of the cartridge is on the left as shown below.
Pull out the two gears (old version was white and off white, or white and gray, or white and black). New version is blue and red.

4. Ensure that the dimple on the brass stem of cartridge is facing UP ( if the hot line is on your left hand side when facing the shower)

5. Place the blue cam on the stem positioning the flat side against the stopper from the bottom. Place the red cam on top. Position it so that both tapered end meets each other in one line as shown below.

Note: This setting will allow for maximum hot water.
For cooler water, rotate the red cam (hot) counterclockwise to set desired temperature.

6. Then push the 2 gears to shower cartridge (Blue or white gear is always on the bottom).
