For Single handle Pressure Balancing Shower:
Old washer, less cartridges for single handle Pressure Balance Showers or Tub/Showers
- Make sure that water is turned off before you start (either by closing the check valves on the brass shower valve itself clockwise or by closing the main hot and cold supply lines).
- Remove bonnet nut or base nut after you remove handle by turning it counter clockwise by hand.
If there is no bonnet nut (in old models), then the temp limit device will be exposed, there is no need to remove any other part to adjust the temp limit device.
- Make sure the stem is positioned where the stopper of the cartridge is on the left as shown below.
Pull out the two gears (old version was white and off white, or white and gray, or white and black). New version is blue and red.
Note: This setting will allow for maximum hot water.
For cooler water, rotate the red cam (hot) counterclockwise to set desired temperature.
