CALGreen refers to the California Green Building Standards Code, also called as CALGreen Code. As mandated by law, California buildings must reduce the maximum flow of water by 20% on all plumbing fittings and fixtures.
For faucets sold or offered for sale on or after January 1, 2016, that meet the CALGreen code, have a maximum flow rate of:
- 1.8 gallons per minute at 60 psi for kitchen faucets and aerators
- 2.5 gallons per minute for pot fillers
- 1.2 gallons per minute at 60 psi for lavatory faucets and aerators
- 0.5 gallons per minute at 60 psi for public lavatory faucets
- 2.0 gallons per minute at 80 psi for showerheads
- 1.28 gallons per flush for toilets
Detailed information on the CALGreen Code can be found on the California Building Standards Commission site at http://www.bsc.ca.gov/Home/CALGreen.aspx.
