To remove and install a handle that uses a handle cap and screw, you will need to:
- Remove the handle cap and screw
- Remove the handle
- Install the handle
Step 1 - Remove the handle cap and screw
a - Remove the handle cap. To do so, unscrew the handle cap counter-clockwise. If the handle cap does not unscrew, use a flat-head screwdriver to remove the handle cap.
b - Once the handle cap is removed, the screw will be visible. Use a screwdriver to remove the screw by turning counter-clockwise.
Step 2 - Remove the handle
a - Once the screw is removed, pull the handle away from the faucet body. The handle should come off easily.
b - The cartridge should now be visible. In some cases, there is still a trim ring that needs to be removed
Step 3 - Install the handle
a- Begin by installing the handle base. If the base is threaded, screw it onto the faucet body by turning it clockwise. If the handle base is not threaded, simply slide the handle base in place, over the cartridge assembly. It should slide easily onto the cartridge stem or handle adapter and into the handle base.
c - Use a screwdriver to install the screw.
d - Install the handle cap
