How To Install And Adjust A Spray Hose Weight

How do I install and adjust the weight on my spray hose?

This article will explain how to install and adjust the spray hose weight.

To install the weight, you will need to:

1. Install the weight on the hose
2. Adjust the weight to the correct position
3. Test for proper spray hose retraction

There are two different types of weight:

• old version weight - with screws
  
   
• new version weight - without screws
  

For an old version weight with screws (rubber or metal with two screws):

Step 1 – Install the weight on the hose

1. Separate the two pieces of the egg-shaped weight.
   
    
2. Place the two pieces around the spray hose and loosely tighten the pieces together.
   

Step 2 - Adjust the weight to the correct position

1. Find the correct location to install the weight. The ideal location for the weight may vary slightly depending on the faucet and where it is being installed. To find the correct location for the weight of your faucet, locate the lowest point on the spray hose.  The correct location for the weight is between the spray head and the lowest point of the spray hose. Install the weight a few inches above the lowest point of the spray hose.
    
2. Once the weight is in the correct position on the spray hose, use a screwdriver to tighten the two pieces of the weight together.
   

Step 3 - Test for proper spray hose retraction

1. Pull the spray head out and test to see if it retracts properly. If the spray head does not retract properly, change the location of the weight by installing it a few inches higher up on the spray hose. Test to see if the spray head now retracts properly.
    
2. Before testing, ensure there is no obstruction under the counter.

For a new version weight without screw:



Step 1 – Install the weight on the hose

1. Push the weight in place, around the hose, where the spray hose starts to loop.
   
    
2. Turn the upper part of the weight, indicated by an arrow in the below diagram, counter-clockwise till it is completely closed.
   
    

1. Weight has to be on the top of the spray hose loop.
   
2. If it is not at the optimum location, reverse the previous steps to remove the weight
    
3. Locate the optimum location and reattach the weight by repeating Step 1

Step 3 - Test for proper spray hose retraction

1. Pull the spray head out and test to see if it retracts properly. If the spray head does not retract properly, change the location of the weight by installing it a few inches higher up on the spray hose. Test to see if the spray head now retracts properly.
    
2. Before testing, ensure there is no obstruction under the counter
