There are three different types of installation or removal methods for an aerator. Depending on the model of your faucet, follow one of the below installation or removal methods:
1) One of the simplest methods is a screw-on type of aerator.
To remove, simply unscrew the aerator from the faucet spout counter-clockwise.
To install, simply screw the aerator onto the faucet spout clockwise.
2) If you see two holes on each side of the aerator in your faucet spout (see image below), you require the use of an aerator wrench to install or remove them.
To remove, insert the aerator wrench into the two holes and turn counter-clockwise to unscrew the aerator from the faucet spout.
To install, insert the new aerator unto the faucet spout, turn clockwise to screw the new aerator onto the faucet spout, and use the aerator wrench to tighten the aerator.
3) If you see a slot across the aerator in your faucet spout (see image below), your faucet uses a coin-slot type of aerator.
To remove this aerator, insert a coin in the middle slot, then unscrew it counter-clockwise.
To install, insert the new aerator unto the faucet spout, turn clockwise to screw the new aerator onto the faucet spout, insert a coin in the middle slot and turn it clockwise to tighten the aerator.
