How Do I Install or Replace The Diverter For My Kitchen Faucet With A Vertical Diverter?

This article will explain how to replace a vertical diverter for a kitchen faucet.

To replace the diverter, you must:

  1. Remove the old diverter
  2. Install the new diverter
  3. Re-install the spout and test for leaks

Please Note: Before doing any work on your faucet, please shut off the water supply for the faucet.

Once the water is turned off, you are ready to begin.

 

Step 1 - Remove the old diverter

  1. Remove the spout

  2. Once the spout has been removed, the top of the diverter should be visible. Locate the two openings and insert a flat tool or object. Turn counter-clockwise until it is completely removed from the faucet body.

Step 2 - Install the new diverter

  1. Slide the diverter into the faucet body. Using the tool you used to remove the diverter, screw the diverter into the faucet body by turning clockwise.

Step 3 - Re-install the spout and test for leaks

  1. Re-install the spout. Once the spout is installed, turn the faucet on and let the water run for 10 minutes. Watch closely for any leaks.
