This article will explain how to install a ceramic disc cartridge for a two-deck mounted pot filler faucet.
Please note that pot fillers use two cartridges. The instructions apply to both cartridges.

To install a ceramic disc cartridge, you must:
- Remove the old cartridge.
- Install the new cartridge.
- Test for leaks.
Please Note: Before doing any work on your faucet, please shut off the water supply for the faucet.
Once the water is turned off, you are ready to begin.
Step 1 – Remove the old cartridge
- To remove the cartridge, begin by removing the handle.
- If the cartridge you are removing has a handle adapter, remove the screw and pull the handle adaptor off of the cartridge.
- The cartridge is threaded into the faucet body. To remove the cartridge, use adjustable pliers to unscrew the cartridge counter-clockwise.
- Holding the stem of the cartridge, pull up until the faucet is completely removed from the faucet body.
Step 2 – Install the new cartridge
- Re-install the handle adapter, if applicable.
- To install the new cartridge, sit the cartridge into the faucet body and turn clockwise to thread it in.
- Re-install the cartridge with a pair of adjustable pliers. To avoid over-tightening the cartridge, hand tighten the cartridge, and then use the adjustable pliers to apply a quarter turn. Approximately 10-14 lbs of torque are required to properly install the cartridge.
Step 3 – Test for leaks
- Once all of the parts are re-installed, turn on the water supply for the faucet and turn the faucet on and off. If you notice that water is leaking from the cartridge assembly, tighten the cartridge and test again.
