To install a washerless cartridge, you must:
- Remove the old cartridge.
- Install the new cartridge.
- Test for leaks.
Please Note: Before doing any work on your faucet, please shut off the water supply for the faucet.
Once the water is turned off, you are ready to begin.
Step 1 - Remove the old cartridge
b. To remove the cartridge, begin by removing the base nut, followed by the sleeve.
c. Hold the stem of the cartridge and pull up until the cartridge is completely removed from the faucet body.
Step 2 – Install the new cartridge
a. Locate the locating pins on the bottom of the cartridge and locate the corresponding holes in the faucet body. Insert the cartridge and rotate it until it slides down into place.
b. Re-install the sleeve. To avoid over-tightening the sleeve, hand tighten the sleeve, and then use the adjustable pliers to apply a quarter turn. Approximately 10-14 lbs of torque are required to properly install the sleeve.
c. Re-install the base nut and hand tighten.
Step 3 – Test for leaks
a. Once all of the parts are re-installed, turn on the water supply for the faucet and let the water run for approximately 10 minutes. If you notice that water is leaking from the ceramic disc cartridge, tighten the sleeve and test again.
